Essex - Tour of Britain - Harlow

8 months ago Mon 4th Sep 2023

On Friday 8th September Stage 6 of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race will take place in the Essex, and will run through Harlow. This will cause significant disruption to Service 505 throughout the day as well as minor disruptions to Services 18, 31 & 61.

Service 505

Buses will divert via Katherines Way, Elizabeth Way and Fourth Avenue on all journeys except the 1452 from Temple Fields (1512 from Harlow Bus Station). Stops along Southern Way, Abercrombie Way and Third Avenue cannot be served. A full list of affected stops is shown below:

  • Milwards Southern Way
  • BP Garage
  • GPCA
  • Kingsland
  • Third Avenue

Passengers who normally use these stops should instead use Water Lane or Harlow Bus Station as an alternative.

A map of the diversion and affected stops is shown below.

1452 from Temple Fields

This journey, which then departs Harlow Bus Station at 1512 will divert via Roydon to reach Tylers Cross and will not serve any local stops in Harlow. The bus will rejoin the normal route at Ada Coles Stables in Broadley Common. This is due to the departure time clashing the end of the race on Third Avenue and Katherines Way.

Delays are expected to Service 505 as a result of this diversion.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our Service 505 passengers as a result of this event. A full regular service should resume from the morning of Saturday 9th September.

Service 18

The following journeys are cancelled on Friday 8th September whilst the race passes through North Weald:

  • 1456 from Epping, St Margaret's Hospital
  • 1508 from North Weald, the Talbot

Service 31

There are no planned diversions or cancellations however the 1450 journey from Harlow may be required to hold at Tylers Cross behind a rolling road closure which may cause delays to journeys until approx 5pm.

Service 61

There are no planned diversions or cancellations however the 1430 journey from Brentwood may be required to hold on the edge of Blackmore behind a rolling road closure which may cause delays to journeys throughout the evening peak.
